World Kidney Day
March 13: World Kidney Day
World Kidney Day (WKD) is a global health awareness campaign focusing on the importance of the kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide. WKD is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF).
Theme of this year: “This year, our focus is on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and aging. CKD can develop at any age but it becomes more common with increasing age. Let’s join forces to raise awareness, encourage prevention and education to fight this disease and overcome this major public health issue!”
There is something you can do: Awareness is key, and World Kidney Day(13th march) provides the perfect opportunity to get out in the community, share the message and raise awareness of the risk factors for kidney disease with friends family and people you meet – you might just save a life!
