World Food Day
World Food Day 2013
Every year, World Food Day is celebrated on 16th October to mark the anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organisations concerned with food security, including the World Food Programme. The focus is how good health throughout life can help hunger men and women lead full and productive lives and be a resource for their families and communities. Ageing concerns each and every one of us – whether young or old, male or female, rich or poor – no matter where we live.
The Hungarian Delegation, led by the former Hungarian Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Pál Romány has played an active role at the 20th Session of the FAO Conference and suggested the idea of celebrating the WFD(World Food Day) worldwide. Theme of this year(2013): ‘Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition’.
