Try this combination of three fruits regularly- Haritaki (Gallnut), Amlaki (Gooseberry) and Bibhitaki (Beleric), combinedly called Triphala (the Sanskrit word that literally means ‘three fruits’), known as a cleaning agent, including a blood cleanser. This internal cleanser removes harmful toxins and excess fats out of the body and tonifies the gastrointestinal tract. It has a high nutritional value, including high levels of vitamin C. It is also found to have high antioxidant qualities. It is also effective in combating piles, anaemia and gall stones. Beside this, it enhances immune function and increases red blood cell count. Even, the recent research studies have found useful effects of this herb in the treatment of cancer. Precautions: Not recommended for acute diarrhoea or during pregnancy. Very underweight persons better to avoid this as it will decrease weight. Instruction: Soak the three herbs in one cup of water overnight or for at least 2 hours. The mixture of the three fruits is also available in powdered form. In this case, recommended dosage is 1 teaspoon of the powder form in one cup of lukewarm water. Drink it at least after 2 hours in empty stomach and then drink 1 litre of slightly salty, warm water. Triphala, sometimes cure the digestive problems through nausea if you have undigested food in your stomach.
