Niagara Falls – Night and Day

Location:
The international border between the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York. The Niagara falls are located on the Niagara river which connects  two of the five Great Lakes- Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

Description:
The Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls are collectively called the ‘Niagara falls’. It is the natural outlet from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
The first European in the area was Etienne Brulé is the first person to discover the falls in September 1615. He was the first non-American person to have seen the falls .
The Niagara Falls are very wide with a total height of 187ft. More than 6 million cubic feet of water falls over the crest line every minute in high flow and almost 4 million cubic feet on average. Niagara Falls has moved back 7 miles in 12,500 years and may be the fastest moving waterfalls in the world.
Another strange fact is that the Niagara falls had completely frozen many times in the past.

Importance:
It was well known for its beauty and as a valuable source of hydroelectric power. You can also see it in movies like Superman II and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
