Maidenhair ferns
Maidenhair ferns
Maidenhair fern (Adiantum) belongs to a genus of about 200 species of ferns. They are distinctive in appearance, with dark, often black stipes and rachises, and bright green, often delicately cut leaf tissue. They generally prefer humus-rich, moist, well-drained sites, ranging from bottomland soils to vertical rock walls. Adiantum absorbs 20 micrograms of formaldehyde per hour, it is considered the most effective natural cleaner. If you work with paints or having smokers around you, you should have some of them in your workplace. Besides, it can contain Xylene and Toluene released by monitors and printers. Parts of the Maidenhair fern are used in the creation of herbal medicine for colds, asthma, sore throats, kidney stones and liver problems. The leaves of the Maidenhair fern are also used to make an herbal tea.
