Red-headed Trogon (Harpactes erythrocephalus) belongs to the Trogonidae family. It is one of the most illusive and rare birds from North east Himalayan foothills. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam. The male has a red head and underparts. Brownish upper-parts and black wing-coverts with white vermiculations. The female has a brown head and breast. It feeds principally on insects, other arthropods, fruits and some small vertebrates.
