Distribution: Native to Argentina and surrounding countries of South America, besides it is kept as pet worldwide.
Description: The monk parakeet, also known as quaker parrot, is a species of wild parrot originating from Argentina. The male is about 9 to 11 inches long. Female is about 20% smaller than the male. Both sexes look alike with back and upper part green in colour, gray forehead and breast. Rest of the underpart is pale green or yellow. It has a typical parrot-like orange bill.
It is called quaker parrot for its unique call that sounds like ‘quak quakiri quak quak’.
Diet: Monk parakeet is mainly vegetarian and eats fruits and grains.
Habitat: It normally lives in flocks,can be found in both forests.and open land with big trees.
