International Plastic Bag Free Day
July 03: International Plastic Bag Free Day
On this day, around the globe, retailers are encouraged not to supply plastic shopping bags and consumers are encouraged not to use plastic shopping bags. Reusable bags are rather promoted.
Every day of the year seems to highlight some or other special cause and even the nasty plastic shopping bag made the annual calendar! Designed to last plastic bags can spend up to one thousand years in landfill. Studies show that the average bag has a 20 minutes functioning lifespan – from store to disposal, or being stashed in a cupboard awaiting a trip to the dump at a later stage.
Hold on! You may proudly say, but I use those bags in my small kitchen bin and to scoop my puppy’s daily doo-doo. Let’s have a look at alternative ways of approaching both these.
Firstly, by recycling everything (paper, glass, plastic, tin, food scraps) every family can greatly reduce their impact to landfill and thus to nature.
Let’s say “ZERO PLASTIC”, AND “SAVE OUR MOTHER NATURE”.
