Collared Lory
The collared lory (Phigys solitarius), also known as the ‘solitary lory’, is a species of parrot, endemic to Fiji islands. The adult birds are about 20cm long. Males have a colourful appearance with deep scarlet cheek, breast and upper abdomen, whereas the lower abdomen is purple. The crown is deep purple. It has a lime green nape with greenish back and bright green wing. The yellow-orange bill is typical parrot-like. Feet are orange or pink. Females are almost same in appearance, but are slightly pale. They feed on fruits, seeds, nectar and blossoms.
