Researchers have discovered that the mountains found on Oahu (Koolau and Waianae), Hawaii’s third largest island in the North Pacific, are being eroded from within by groundwater. Thus, they are quite likely to shrink as the years go by, and ultimately turn into plains. Geologists have also claimed that in the future they might fall off the map completely.

New leaves in a plant replace the fallen leaves within a season, but it takes millions of years for a mountain to stand. Mountains are the important treasure of our planet, falling of which is a big loss to our planet, environment and ultimately to us.
