Common name: <\/strong>Fruit dove, Fruit pigeon,\u00a0Rose-fronted Pigeon,\u00a0Crimson-capped Fruit Dove.<\/p>\n Family:<\/strong> Dove family (Columbidae).<\/p>\n Scientific Name:\u00a0<\/strong>Ptilinopus.<\/em><\/p>\n Species:\u00a0<\/strong>It is a large genus with about 50 species, some threatened or already extinct!<\/p>\n Distribution:\u00a0<\/strong>This beautiful species of dove is found in\u00a0the island of New Guinea, Philippines, and biogeographical region of Wallacea. Some species have ranges as far west as the Sunda Islands, others north to Taiwan, south to Australia, and east into Polynesia.<\/p>\n Description:\u00a0<\/strong>It is a small, approximately 19\u00a0cm (7\u00bd in) long, mainly green fruit dove. It has a red crown, whitish throat, a greenish-yellow bill and purplish-red feet. It has a blue-grey breast and yellowish orange belly, with a reddish purple patch in between.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Males and females of many fruit dove species look very different.
