National Dog Day<\/p><\/div>\n

National Dog Day, also known as National Dog Appreciation Day\u00a0is celebrated August 26th annually and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort.\u00a0Dogs have been \u201cman\u2019s best friend\u201d for over 15,000 years.\u00a0Dogs give us companionship, they keep us safe and they aid those in need.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2004 by pet lifestyle expert and author Colleen Paige, National Dog Day was created to honor dogs more than we currently do, to give them “a day”, to show deep appreciation for our long connection to each other – for their endearing patience, unquestioning loyalty, for their work, their capacity for love and their ability to impact our lives everyday in the most miraculous ways.<\/p>\n

Goal:\u00a0<\/strong>It is a goal, for many on National Dog Day, to find homes for all dogs in need of a loving family.\u00a0The goal of the National Dog Day foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs each year.<\/p>\n
