These waterfalls located near Shimoga in Karnataka, ranks among the highest waterfalls in the country. During monsoons, the famous Sharavathi river, distributes in its four distinct streams Raja, Roarer, Rani and Rocket and forms this beautiful world famous Jog falls.<\/p>\n

These falls are located near the city of Cherrapunji in Meghalaya. The legend goes that this was the spot where a young mother named Likai threw herself over the precipice after finding out that her husband killed her daughter. Her act gave the falls its name. The locals will definitely share the story with you but indeed with a sad look on their face.<\/p>\n

These falls are yet another natural beauty located in Meghalaya. These are also known as the Mawsmai Falls or the Seven Sisters and are a sight to behold during monsoons. They look beautiful during sunset.<\/p>\n

One of the broader falls in the country, near Jagdalpur in Chattisgarh, these waterfalls exhibit drastic change in the water levels during summer and monsoon months. However, its most visited during rains when the Indravati river shows off its raw power.<\/p>\n

These falls are located near Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The falls gets its name from the smoky cascade seen around it. Though just 10 metre high, these falls pack a mighty punch and can be heard from miles away.<\/p>\n

This is definitely one of my favourite waterfalls as it was the first waterfall i ever visited and the experience was totally enthralling. I happened to visit this fall during my trip to Goa. Located on the Goa -Karnataka border, this tiered waterfall makes for such a picturesque frame that it leaves the nature lovers spellbound. It would be interesting to know that the movie ” Chennai Express ” was shot here. A must visit…<\/p>\n

A two hour drive from Hyderabad, this waterfall is powered by the waters of the Krishna river and flows with maximum force during monsoons. There is a crocodile breeding centre in the area since the waters are infested with the reptiles. Once daylight fades, the falls are illuminated with lights that makes for a breathtaking sight.<\/p>\n

These falls are located near Jang, Arunachal Pradesh. In case you plan a trip to Tawang, a town close to India -China border, then there is no escaping a tryst with this waterfall.<\/p>\n
