Common Name: Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher),  also called Black Backed Kingfisher or Three-toed Kingfisher.

Scientific Name: Ceyx erithaca

Description:
It is a small species of kingfisher endemic to Southeast and South Asia. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia,Thailand, Laos, Malaysia to Vietnam.Description:
This 13 cm bird lives near streams in dense tropical or swamp forests. The kingfisher is a feast of colours with glossy bluish black back, bright yellow underpart and multi-coloured head and rest of the body that shines with violet, lilac, pink, blue, orange colours. The bill is rich red and the feet are dark orange. It has a short tail and black eyes.

Habit:
Like other kingfishers, the birds main food is small fishes,its diet also contains insects,lizards etc.

Importance:
It is an important predator of small fishes in freshwater habitats.
