Interesting Moth: Uropyia meticulodina

Sceintific Name: Uropyia meticulodina

Distribution: China and Taiwan

Description:
Uropyia meticulodina is known for its mimicry to a dead leaf. It is not just like another dead-leaf moth, but a typical artist of nature. The way it creates a convincingly three-dimensional illusion of a dead leaf curled round in on itself is simply astonishing. The fact is the wing which seems curled up is not curly at all. Actually, the wing has a pattern of the curled dead leaf with shading which is created by minute scales. The wingspan of an adult moth is 45-55 mm.
